HEALTH AND ECOTOURISM

This blog post, as well as all other inital posts, have been revised September 2024.

Ecotourism industry was worth 181 billion USD in 2019 and projected to grow towards 333.8 billion USD. As all of us are taking climate change more seriously and become more demanding in terms of sustainability, we will prefer tourism which is doing efforts to go towards net zero. Former blogpost “Land of Opportunity” already dug into opportunities in terms of real estate, basically refurbishing old buildings & then planting trees and tree guilds all around. Ownership can be tokenised, so everybody can have a stake in all projects we deploy together. It is a win win for all, as we all grow together… Look at it from a holistic perspective & so much more is possible, if we do it with respect for nature. Again, some places need calm & can’t have too many people around all the time. Every (pilot)project and situation must be looked at from a local perspective, from local stakeholders’ perspectives, in order to ensure respectful & harmonious growth.

We are just trying to point out ecotourism will only grow coming decades until it becomes the norm rather than the exception. Many traditional providers will perish in this process, unless they profoundly reinvent themselves. This leaves ample space for us to grow our ecosystem(s.) On one hand we can offer to help traditional tourism providers to adapt to the new circumstances. We can offer them to offset carbon nearby, yet we may as well offer to insert sustainable and/or regenerative (pilot)projects within their structures, on their premises or rooftops, for instance. Again, all of this adds value for all participating stakeholders. On the other hand, we can also help existing projects through providing more funding and/or helping hands (within the framework of how they locally operate or wish to operate, abiding by their wishes) to accelerate the process towards more biodiversity.

We can perfectly adapt to inner city situations, as well as towards any climatological circumstances. It will require energy, solar desalination, windmills, water provision, sheltering seedlings from the sun... and so much more. However, with(in) a modular framework, all of this is perfectly doable, if we build on an abundance of partnerships. Key is cooperation, as well as mutual growth: through cooperation we generate increasing value for all involved. The word holistic has often been met with grinning. How about holistic capitalism? Go ask Toyota how their holistic approach helped Japan conquer a considerable part of the automobile industry. (Toyota outpaced GM former years in the USA… First time a foreign carmaker ever did that.) If they wouldn’t have combined a lean working method with a holistic approach, they wouldn’t have sold one car on American soil. Okay nowadays, we want them to be climate neutral. Just pointing out, holistic is not just some tearjerker storyline for overaged hippies. Lean re-iterative innovation, holism and biodiversity are more closely knit than one would suspect at first hand.

Wellness industry 4.5 trillion USD in 2018… Treespaces can eat into that pie as well. If people are granted a stay over, we can offer them as well thermal springs. Or, we could share knowledge on how to create your own tincture or deodorant. This could come from plants or trees participants planted a year or a few years before. So, it generates another type of binding storyline. We can help local people pass on their knowledge from former generations. Many scenarios are possible. And as we work with tokens and NFTs to make interchanges possible, the whole situation becomes ever more flexible & fun. Moreover, we can design it all within a framework respecting local communities, as well as policies put forward by government(S) or, for instance, our partners. Bye bye your boring average spa. Hello playful, but respectful adventures. Same goes for integrating original team building, workplace wellness, wellness real estate… And think about all the health aspects.

We will be able to offer so much. Over time, there will be a whole physical activity economy directly connected to the whole treespaces play/project/application. The more physically active builders can help realise the most creative (infra)structures. Some may prefer fine nurturing and care-taking of plants and (fruit bearing) trees, whilst others will want to make their own yoga-mat out of bamboo, or so. Think of mental wellness. Some governments are paying people to go bicycle or to go walking. Such guided events, or, for instance, art therapy experiences, coached by professionals, surely can be realised within the scope of what we are proposing here. We could go on providing examples till kingdom come, but we gather you get the gist of what we are envisioning… And what could be more fun than eating food you have helped grow yourself? Furthermore, people undeniably crave for community. People just need a nudge in the right direction & things will start happening _mark my words.
